MosaicgGlobe, Inc. has announced the launch of a hosted, Web 2.0 content management system that doesn’t require fortune 500 budgets or a developer on staff. Offering free accounts, MosaicGlobe.com is a Creative Publishing System built using Ruby on Rails with support for multiple pages, syndicated weblogs, content tagging, image galleries and media file downloads.
Introducing a unique model of site creation, management and hosting, MosaicGlobe launched an exciting, new application today that addresses the concerns of those that want their own site but lack the skills and/or budgets; while also meeting the needs of web professionals who do not have the time to maintain a site but still wants to tinker with HTML and CSS to customize their visual designs.
Built using Ruby on Rails, the web-hosted application was developed with the input and assistance of creative professionals (visual artists, photographers and art related non-profits) and non-professionals users. The results are powerful site creation tools built around an administrative process that is truly simple and intuitive to use.
Features
A core feature of the MosaicGlobe project is its flexibility of use. Site owners can share photos, music and artwork, publish a blog, post articles, distribute documents, and more. Whether maintaining a corporate website or sharing a knitting project - MosaicGlobe is designed to meet both professional and personal website requirements.
Novice users can create and manage a complete website with pages that include image galleries, syndicated weblogs, email forms and downloadable media files. They can add, edit, publish and unpublish content as needed and add search tags to pages, images and blog posts for searchable categorization within their site and/or across all MosaicGlobe websites.
Text and image placement is managed using an embedded text editor and interface designs can be chosen from a growing number of professionally designed templates to quickly change the look of a site. However, experienced users have the ability to customize template CSS or create their own and can also edit page HTML directly for precise control of their content.
Accounts
MosaicGlobe will provide free accounts to any individual and organization that would like a way to showcase their creativity. Paid accounts are available for $9 and $14 per month and include increased storage space, no page limits or ads, email accounts and detailed visitor statistics. Additionally, MosaicGlobe will also be making full featured sites available to art related nonprofits organizations free of charge.
