Press Release:

Using oils, watercolors or pastels to accurately and quickly produce fine art paintings pose a challenge to artists working on location. Artists need techniques which enable them to achieve a spontaneous yet controlled approach to their work.

When describing how we grab hold of our visions, author Anais Nin, explained how our, "Dreams pass into the reality of action. From the actions stems the dream again; and this interdependence produces the highest form of living." Artists must possess the skills, methods and strategy needed to capture the natural light and quick poses of live models or landscape settings.

From May 8 through 11, Kim English, noted artist from Colorado, will lead a workshop to help artists develop techniques for speedily and accurately catching light, landscapes and figures in their paintings. Students will work with models in quick poses, working into longer poses as the workshop progresses. He will devote one day of the class to landscape painting.

This workshop is being held at the ultra spacious Red Raven Studio, located in the historic town of Pueblo, Colorado. Red Raven Studio affords a wide variety of scenic landscapes and inspirational locations which are easily accessible. Pueblo features exquisite architecture, peaceful settings and a friendly atmosphere.

Art in the Aspens founder, Marty Brens, who has organized these workshops for the past 15 years says, "Kim taught this same workshop last year and received loads of praise and gratitude from the attendees - this year he encourages artists to work in their favorite medium - be it oils, pastels or watercolors."
