Press Release:

Atlanta Institute of Aesthetics, a division of Atlanta School of Massage, is a skin care school now offering Galvanic Current skincare treatments to both cleanse and moisturize the skin. Using electrical currents, the skin first undergoes a deep pore cleansing known as disincrustation. The galvanic current device, set to a negative polarity, works in conjunction with a positively charged cleansing solution to create a chemical reaction in the skin. This chemical reaction liquefies the impurities in the skin and creates a soapy substance that helps to unclog pores and dissolve excess oil and other debris on the skin.

Once the skin is free of debris and impurities it is time to move onto the next stage of the process known as iontophoresis. This process uses the universal laws of attraction to push water-soluble products into the skin using electronic currents. The esthetician first determines the polarity of the solution selected for their client’s specific skincare needs. Slightly acidic products are positively charged, while alkaline products are negatively charged. When using a positively charged product, the esthetician sets the galvanic current device to positive which results in the product being pushed into the deep layers of the skin.

This skin care treatment is especially effective for clients with oily or acne prone skin because it helps to soften and relax the impurities in the follicle for extractions. This treatment is not recommended for all clients, including those with pustular acne, couperose skin, inflamed areas, who are pregnant, have pacemakers, high blood pressure, braces or are epileptic. Please check with your skincare specialist before undergoing this treatment.
