Press Release:

The Western Publications Association (WPA) awarded lore Magazine two first place awards at the 2006 55th Maggie Awards, the most prestigious magazine publishing awards in the western United States. Lore, a Denver-based national magazine that focuses on the personal Lives of Real Estate, won Maggies in Best Overall Design/Trade publication and Special Interest/Trade publication.

Lore was founded in 2004 by Anne Randolph and Steve Murray who together have provided business and consumer trends research in the residential real estate industry for over 35 years. They recognized the need to present the personal stories of real estate professionals rather than their sales and financial performance, which is heavily reported elsewhere in other publications. In two short years, lore has come to be considered by its nearly 40,000 readers to be the People magazine of the industry.

The Maggies, known as “the Oscars of the magazine industry,” received more than 2,000 entries representing 400 magazines, according to the WPA. For the past 55 years, Maggie Awards have recognized the hard work, dedication and creative talents working in the publishing industry today

Lore won both Maggies for excellence in its July/August 2005 issue that featured as its cover a story on the “Fab Five,” five rising female stars in residential real estate who have overcome numerous personal and professional obstacles in achieving positions as heads of their respective companies.

“We were honored and thrilled to be selected for these two awards in only our second year of operation,” Randolph said. “One of our key values is to continue raising the bar on all fronts--more interesting editorial, unique and edgy design and quality, quality, quality.”

A total of 85 Maggies were handed out at the awards banquet held on April 21st at the Westin Hotel at Los Angeles Airport and attended by more than 600 publishing professionals. The full list of Maggie Award winners, finalists and categories is available online at www.wpa-online.org.
