The Second Annual Ricky James/Next Steps Golf Tournament is seeking corporate sponsors. The tournament will be held on Thursday, September 21st, 2006 at Trilogy Golf Club at Glen Ivy in Corona, Ca. Sponsor participation is available at many different levels, Southern California companies seeking to increase presence in motocross and homebuilder markets are encourged to apply.
The Ricky James/Next Steps Golf Tournament was originally created last year due to the injury of Ricky James, an upcoming amateur motocross racer that left the 16 yr. old paralyzed on March 10th 2005.
The James family has decided to hold annual fundraising golf tournaments with the non-profit Next Steps Foundation, California chapter (www.next-steps.org) to raise awareness and funds for the research to cure spinal cord injury.
The tournament has many different sponsorship levels and is expected to raise over $130,000.00 for the non-profit. Over $70,000.00 was raised at last year’s event. The majority of the funds raised this year will go to the Christopher Reeve Foundation.
“We have already had a great response” says event coordinator and father of Ricky, Rick James. “We are working with some major sponsors now, but the awareness and media coverage of the event has been expanded so we have plenty of additional sponsorship opportunities.”
Available sponsorship levels include 5, 10 & $25,000.00 spots with the Title Sponsorship level at $50,000.00 and currently under negotiation. These new levels will include increased visibility for sponsors from the events website, www.rickyjamesgolf.com, outdoor advertising, increased media coverage and increased local coverage and participation.
Last year’s top sponsors included GE, Monster Energy Drink (Hansen Beverage Company, Corona, Ca.), Sysco Foods, Volere Watch, Ogio and The Umbrella Girls (motorcycle/motocross models) to name a few.
Rick James explains “This is a chance for a major corporation to make real impact in the Southern California community. Because of the cause we are supporting, we are also receiving international attention as well.” “It is a very positive thing for a company to be associated with.” James added.
