Press Release:

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio R, Villaraigosa and Councilmember Dennis P. Zine of the 3rd District in Los Angeles awarded a certificate of tribute to local author Kim Isaac Greenblatt for his work in writing and promoting awareness of Rett Syndrome. The award was presented in West Hills, California and represents recognition by the city of Los Angeles for efforts and accomplishments which have been of great value to families dealing with Rett Syndrome.

"Rett Syndrome affects one girl born worldwide every five hours. Boys born with the disease usually die at birth," states Kim Greenblatt, author of "Your Daughter Has Been Diagnosed With Rett Syndrome", "alot of families do not get a correct diagnosis and the impact can be catastrophic. Rett Syndrome is not recognized by organizations for therapies and funding and it has exploded in the Anglo, Latino, African American and Asian communities."

Rett Syndrome is recognized by the wringing of the hands of the girls afflicted with the syndrome. Many families cannot cope with the diagnosis and Kim Greenblatt has written a "first strike" book that helps people who are caregivers, the medical community and relatives cope and deal with the girls in their life that get the diagnosis. The book is great material for people dealing with other syndromes and conditions as well.

Part of the proceeds of the book go to Rett Syndrome research to helping find a cure.

Councilman Dennis Zine and Mayor Villaraigosa are long time supporters of helping people with special needs. They recognized that this was an issue that had to be surfaced to the people of Los Angeles, California, the United States and ultimately, the world.

"Rett Syndrome causes girls to be lose the ability to control their bodies, have crippling seizures, lose the ability to speak and have a limited quality of life. It is important that research be funded and that parents of special needs children - especially Rett Syndrome, get the funding they need at the local and national levels to help deal with their situation."

Kim Greenblatt, the author, lives in West Hills, California with his wife and two children. One of them, Arianna, has Rett Syndrome. He posts coping strategies for special needs caregivers on his website. He has also written a poker book titled, "Practical Low and No Limit Texas Hold'em Ring Games" to help find a cure for Rett Syndrome. Part of the proceeds from that book go to Rett Syndrome research as well. He is available for interviews and travel.

Kim Greenblatt's book, "Your Daughter Has Been Diagnosed With Rett Syndrome", is available from the author's website, Amazon, Amazon UK, Barnes and Noble, and other bookstores. A digital version ebook is available through the internet as well.
