Press Release:

MusicIP is proud to announce today that the company’s global music search database has reached the milestone of 20,000,000 track IDs and musical signatures. Each track has been rigorously identified by the company’s patented fingerprint, and musically characterized through a patent-pending algorithmic analysis.

We will continue to build products and services that ensure that we know about every song by every artist so that we can make the most appropriate recommendations for consumers.
"Just as text search engines have made billions of web sites accessible, our unique music search technologies are enabling millions of consumers to find just the right music from millions of track choices," commented Dr. Matthew Dunn, CEO of MusicIP. "As the text on the Web exploded, it became clear that human-powered directories couldn’t keep up. We’re pioneering and leading the same transformation for the emerging digital music industry."

The 20 millionth song analyzed by MusicIP was the Allegro Moderato movement from Handel’s Wassermusik Suite Nr. 1, submitted from Mainz, Germany—underlining the power of the company’s globally-distributed language-independent technology. MusicIP invested years of research and development to accomplish the very difficult task of identifying, characterizing, and relating digital tracks by their musical attributes. In March of 2006, the database of analyzed tracks was just over 16,000,000. Just three months later, that number has increased by over 4,000,000 tracks to today’s total of 20,129,589. That’s an average of more than 42,000 tracks PER DAY. At 20,129,589, the database is by far the largest in existence--and is the foundation of the company’s services for music enterprises and consumers.

MusicIP’s enterprise services include the Music Digital Naming Service (MusicDNS™), which provides an inexpensive web service for track identification and metadata, and the Discovery Engine, which enables music enterprises to present their catalogs to consumers in a highly targeted and personalized way, both accessible through Software Development Kits. MusicIP also provides firmware for consumer electronics that enables dramatically better interfaces and music experiences. Consumer products include desktop software and components, and a Web-accessible music search preview at http://playground.musicip.com.

"Twenty million is a true milestone, and an indicator of the pent-up supply of great music from artists worldwide," says Dunn. "We will continue to build products and services that ensure that we know about every song by every artist so that we can make the most appropriate recommendations for consumers."

MusicIP provides a global infrastructure that enables the digital music consumption cycle, with products and services designed to work together seamlessly for a better listening and buying experience.
