Laurance is currently exhibiting his work in Manhattan, Miami, Morocco, Paris, Philadelphia, Palm Beach and now in Southampton. For the Hampton Designer Showhouse Laurance has transformed with the help of Ralph Lauren Paint two areas of this fabulous Hampton's home, built by Burns Development Corp. Both the grand dining hallway and master bedroom nook will both exhibit Laurance's canvases and other items from his new collection of designer goods including custom furniture, lighting, ceramics, pillows and fashions.
Leading Hampton Gallery RVS Fine Art will also showcase works from this same series starting July 14th -25th.
International emerging artist Laurance Rassin dedicates his life to working religiously on his art. Rassin devotes nearly twenty hours a day to painting, and rarely ever leaves his Greenwich Village studio. His efforts have been received with applause and recognition as "the next great wave of contemporary Expressionism". His lively paintings vary from interior scenes to large scale figurative work, all of which are scrupulously textured. These pieces, sometimes exceeding 50 layers of oil, are composed of iridescent chunks of vivid color that tell a story at a distance. Auctioneers, private collectors and universities have likened his work to that of Dubuffet, Picasso, and Matisse, all of whom he credits with influencing his profound art.

"My husband and I were taken in by Laurance's strong perspective, incredible imagination and international recognition as an emerging artist" says owner Roberta Van Schloshberg who is exclusively representing Laurance this summer. "The hospital is such an important part of our community we were glad to support Laurance in this worthy endeavor."
Taking a departure from painting in his West Village studio, this charismatic artist unveils a collection of furniture and design accents based on his large figurative, floral and interior works. "I needed a break from all the paint fumes", he admits, "and besides I have always wanted to design rooms and make fabric, so this summer, with the showcase house as a venue, it seemed like the right time", tells Rassin. The Hampton Designer Showhouse is presented by House and Garden Magazine to benefit Southampton Hospital, July 15th - July 27th at 141 Highland Terrace in Bridgehampton and exclusively at RVS Gallery on Jobs Lane in Southampton.
Laurance for this very special showcase has created innovative design accents and furniture, establishing alliances with Duggal Visual Solutions and Card Board Designs.com, companies both known for cutting edge ideas. "Each lighting accent and piece of furniture and even the scarves are hand-made, printed from my beach collection" tells Rassin.
An expressionist by design, Rassin paints from his collective unconscious rather than from memory or a visual interpretation. "It makes things tougher to create, but ultimately far more rewarding. I am the sum total of everything I read, see and hear", says the self taught painter. "Painting allows me to tap into a primal way of seeing the world, the world not as we wish it to be, but rather the world we make it." An award winning short filmmaker, lead singer of the band The Jones Patrol and director of an animated series based on his paintings, Rassin continues to amaze us with his creativity, taking New York by storm, one color at a time.
"Laurance is creating some of the most dynamic expressionistic work seen in recent years. His interiors, which I collect, are raw genius."
Konrad Keesee - Christie's International Representative
"Laurance's work is extremely original, full of color, imagination and energy. I've had a lot of experience and exposure to the art world and I'm charmed by Laurance's art. Someday we will be selling him at Sotheby's."
Barbara Cates - Sotheby's Associate
"It’s a very rare opportunity to meet.....much less work with such a true visionary as Laurance. It is an honor for cardboardesign to be apart of his art."
Cathy Henszey - Vahid Pourkay, Card Board Design.com
"I travel the globe in search of the most important twentieth century masterworks for my Paris galerie, list of private collectors, and museums. Given this, it's rare that I get a chance to see emerging art, but when do; I am constantly reminded of how little I care for it. Yet, there is one American artist that I have met that breaks clean from this often banal scene, his name is Laurance Rassin. His canvases are the best combination of old and new school; the next wave of great contemporary expressionism."
