It's the latest rage on the Internet: word cloud, or tag cloud advertising, as popularized by 500words.com, 501morewords.com and others. curioZities, LLC, an Internet marketing company, has launched one of the first such sites geared toward the travel market: 300Destinations.Com (http://www.300destinations.com/).
Word cloud advertising web sites sell a keyword to prospective advertisers for a modest one-time fee. Typically, 500 keywords are available, each one linking to a potential advertiser's home page for as long as the word cloud website remains online.
300Destinations.Com, says Frank Calderon, manager of curioZities, is different from other word cloud web sites. "Well, for one thing, we're focusing exclusively on travel and our design is considerably different from other such sites. Another thing is we're also offering travel news on our home page, to keep our visitors interested."
Plans for additional content are in the works, adds Calderon. "You have to keep refreshing your site's content to keep visitors coming," he says. "And it also helps if you advertise your website, which we are doing."
The site is ideal for anyone in the travel industry with an online presence, Calderon says. "Whether you book flights, or cruises, or sell vacation packages complete with airline tickets, hotel rooms and rental car reservations, 300Destinations.Com is a great value and great online destination for you!"
