Press Release:

It's time once again for the Annual Ferndale Boys & Girls Club Golf Tournament at Semiahmoo Golf & Country Club. Golfing for kids sake is the purpose of the September 23rd event at one of Washington State's top ranked courses.

We're so very fortunate to have the support of such generous sponsors such as Ferndale Les Schwab and Semiahmoo Resort & Country Club.

Sponsored by Ferndale Les Schwab Tire Center, the tournament raises operating dollars for the nearly 1500 kids the professional Youth Development Staff serve each day at the Ferndale Clubhouse. The event will begin at 1:30pm with a shotgun start and is limited to 29 foursomes. The cost is $100 per player or $400 per foursome. The scramble format offers a great day with friends, colleagues and clients, with prizes going to 1st, 2nd, 3rd and last places as well as contests for "longest drive", "closest to the pin" and "outdrive the pro". The tournament is open to anyone looking for a great day on a beautiful course and who believes in supporting kids.

Golfers receive free driving range time starting at 12:00pm, beverages on the course, dinner post-tournament, golf carts, promotional materials, bag tags and tournament scoring. Sponsorship opportunities are still available.

"We're so very fortunate to have the support of such generous sponsors such as Ferndale Les Schwab and Semiahmoo Resort & Country Club." Commented Ferndale Branch Director, Josh Wilund. He added "Last year's event raised some solid dollars for kids and folks had a tremendous time on the Golf Digest 3rd in the State ranked course."

The tournament draws golfers ranging from beginners all the way to very competitive athletes, but everyone who attends is there for two things: fun and helping youth.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Whatcom County serves over 6000 youth from around the County at six sites in five communities. The Clubs operate in dedicated youth facilities each day after school and all summer long, serving Members for a $25.00 annual registration fee. Clubs strive to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. For more information on the Clubs, operating hours, supporting annual fundraising endeavors or about board of directors involvement, please contact the Ferndale Clubhouse.
