India Day 2006 on Sunday, the 13th of August

The celebration will be a grand event for family and friends, with an audience of over 10,000," said M. Rajinikanth, the President of IAGB. "We are pleased that the Museum of Science is the grand sponsor of the show. The central attraction is a cultural program presented by the many talented groups in the Greater Boston area. This will include the colorful and vibrant bhangra dance presented by well-known dance and art clubs in the Boston area."

Over 30 Indian music schools and arts clubs including the MIT Bhangra and Boston Bhangra groups will be featured. Indian food stalls, Henna booths, children’s activities in collaboration with Museum of Science, and several booths representing about 50 organizations will be set up on the lawns. It is a great event with the promise of free quality entertainment for the entire family and friends.

"IAGB succeeds due to the dedication and hard work of its volunteer officers and because of continued enthusiastic support from the Indian and non-Indian community. On occasions like Independence Day, the entire community is able to get together and celebrate its beautiful heritage."

India celebrates Independence Day to mark its Independence from Great Britain on August 15, 1947.

Note: Street parking for the event is subject to City of Boston parking regulations, and public parking will be available at Boston Common Public garage. However, the IAGB recommends public transportation.
