(PRWEB) August 18, 2004 -- For those of you who still dont know what LiveWire is; let me introduce it to you as the ideal data analysis program for scientists and engineers who want to visualize and analyze unlimited amounts of data. LiveWire is an excellent compliment to PSCAD and replaces the Muliplot application that was once bundled with it. LiveWire supports the importation and exportation of industry standard data file formats, such as COMTRADE, EMTDC, and the newly added PSS/E files. It also provides you with the ability to import and export general data formats such as comma separated variable files (*.csv) and text files (*.txt). If you desire, LiveWire even supplies you with the means to generate data from user-defined equations and import/export data from other applications using the clipboard.LiveWire has a very wide range of advanced features not available in similar software packages. Features like smart axis and dynamic aperture controls in both the graphs and plots allow you to easily navigate through your data. Other features like enhanced tool tips present you with thumbnail views of data sets. The ability to save and restore LiveWire workspaces (*.lww) provides you with a sense of comfort and security that your worksheets and imported data files will not have to be regenerated, like many other data analysis packages. The capability to generate Bitmap and Metafile images on a frame-by-frame basis, allow you to add results and visual depiction to your reports quickly and effortlessly, without using additional software.>Whats new in Version 2.2?There were many additions and enhancement made to LiveWire 2.2. The following outlines some of the more important newly added items:- Import support for version 2 EMTDC output data files.- Automatic grouping of EMTDC output data in the tree.- Import support for PSS/E output data files.- Editable trace names in the graph, tree, and equation editor.- Option to declare data paths as absolute or relative (allowing you to share workspaces and access the same data across networks).- Multiple selections, sorting, and grouping of data in the tree.- Improved annotations (new graphics, more intuitive).- Printing template support (complete with interactive margins, header, footer, and new printable components).- Improved toolbars.- Multiple selections and grouping of components.- Auto arrangement for components.- Support to rearrange, reorder, and delete worksheets.- Improved curve math/equation generator.- Enhanced data synchronization.- Support to allow graphs and plots to be minimized and/or maximized.- User definable graph sizing within the graph frames.- Improved rendering within the XY and Polar plots.- Pop-up toolbars were added to the graphs and plots to simply activation of many of the commonly features.- And a host of other smaller enhancements and improvements.>How do you get a copy of this beta? You are encouraged to download the latest beta version of LiveWire 2.2 from the following link:http://www.zsys.ca/livewire22b.zipA full manual can be downloaded from:http://www.zsystems.mb.ca/lw2um.pdfA quick start manual can be downloaded from:http://www.zsystems.mb.ca/lw2qsg.pdfInstructions for licensing can be downloaded from:http://www.zsystems.ca/licensing.htmWith regards to the licensing, for those of you who havent done this before, the instructions are very straightforward.I recommend that you take a few minutes to look over the quick start guide. It is will help you get comfortable with LiveWire very quickly. It should be noted that the documentation is for version 2.0, but most of the information is still relevant. We are currently working on updating our documentation with the anticipation of the version 2.2 release.>Is there anything you should be aware of when using this beta? The beta version functions in exactly the same manner as the currently released version. The beta version simply has newly added features and feels slightly different. The licensing works exactly the same as the current release. If you currently have a license to LiveWire 2.0 or 2.1, you will automatically have a license to the beta version LiveWire 2.2. The application will install as its own, separate, application. It will not overwrite any previous version of LiveWire; they will remain. It should be noted though that this is a beta version, and by definition, this isnt a release version. Although slight, there may be bugs or unexpected results that could corrupt your worksheets. It is strongly urged that if you use this version, please make sure you back your data and worksheets up.>When is the actual release available? This is one of the last beta versions of LiveWire 2.2 and the actual release should be available very soon. Expected release should be available before fall of 2004. If you currently have a licence to LiveWire, we will be contacting you and supplying you with the updates as soon as it becomes available.I hope everyone gets a chance to try this version out and provide us soon really great feedback.About Z Systems, Inc.Z Systems, Inc. specializes in developing data analysis, acquisition, and visualization software and software technologies that provide a complete solution for scientists, engineers, and OEM software developers worldwide.www.zsystems.ca
