The Gartner consultancy has recommended the installation of personal firewalls, at least, across all corporate laptops and ideally all desktops as well. Gartners recommendation, reported by TechWeb, responds to the growing number of vulnerabilities in Windows operating systems. This means that companies constantly have to apply the patches released to workstations and laptops in particular.
Gartner has also brought attention to the delay in applying these patches. On average, companies take from between six and 18 months to apply patches after they are released and for this reason, corporate computers are continuously running unnecessarily high risks. Gartner believes that installing personal firewalls, firstly in laptops and then desktops, should be a priority for companies to reduce unlimited exposure to the Internet and prevent unauthorized running of executable files Internet.
