Hot Web Holdings Ltd owned by internet entrepreneur Robert Glaser has purchased yet another piece of prime online real estate, Exit18.com (http://www.Exit18.com).
The sale price was not disclosed. Glaser would only reveal that when the domain was offered he instantly saw the potential for what he called "another under utilized" domain name.
The venerable location, exit 18 on I-95 in Connecticut, is the home to the Town of Westport, an affluent suburb of New York.
Mr. Glaser has been quietly buying prime domain names over the past year for development under the "HOT" brand name and for investment.
When pressed for what his plans were, the native Westport resident disclosed a search portal similar to Google, Yahoo or MSN but on a local level for the residents and businesses of the Town of Westport.
Local businesses can obtain top search position utilizing Exit18’s own pay per click (PPC) advertising program similar to programs used by Google adWords, Yahoo! Search Marketing and Microsoft’s MSN adCenter. The cost of PPC is far less expensive than old line methods such as print, cable TV or other forms of media, and is far more effective. In addition Exit18’s system features tools that allow clients total control of their budget, modification of their search listings and the ability to view statistics.
The benefit to local businesses is clearly local sales and service; from customers that prefer to deal with creditable businesses they can identify with, or need more personal attention than can be obtained online.

In 1995, he created a web site for online sales and by the time he sold the business in 2003, "the web accounted for nearly 60 percent of the business," he said.
