Press Release:

The multiple-award-winning fantasy series The Remin Chronicles, by Baltimore author Nick Ruth, has been turning kids into avid readers and fans nationwide for its old-fashioned story telling and upbeat adventure.

The young heroes triumph using their wits and imagination, and there is very little fighting.

The Remin Chronicles are filled with adventure, endearing characters both human and nonhuman, magic and wizardry, subplots that teach a bit of environmental science, key roles for children, and of course, an epic struggle between the forces of good and the forces of evil.

In The Dark Dreamweaver, David, a boy from our own world, visits Remin, the world of dreams…does battle with the evil sorcerer Thane…and is aided by an imprisoned wizard battling the dream thief and living repeatedly through the lifecycle of a monarch butterfly.

In The Breezes of Inspire, David and several cousins return to Remin and accidentally plunge into the land of Inspire, where they become trapped in a world where they aren't welcome. But Inspire is in trouble, and the five children, along with one plucky stuffed bear, go on a perilous quest to try to save Inspire and find their way home.

Ruth plans at least five volumes for the series, all of which blend environmental science with magic and fantasy. The Dark Dreamweaver uses the life cycle of monarch butterflies as a key plot point; The Breezes of Inspire slowly reveals the workings of one of nature's most miraculous processes: symbiosis (two different organisms living together in close association).

Children love the imaginative story, unusual characters, and exciting adventure, while parents appreciate the books’ values embracing self-reliance, imagination, teamwork, and respect for life.

The series has won nine awards between the two books, including awards from three different parenting organizations.
