With an eye on the next generation of the Internet Protocol (IP), MIMIC 7.00 is the first to offer support for IPv6 based device simulation and recording. It allows enterprises and developers of management aplications to work over the IPv6 protocol to manage their devices. It also provides access to the simulated devices using Secure Shell (ssh) along with the Telnet protocol. MIMIC supports SNMPv1, v2, v2c and v3, and DHCP, TFTP and ToD, Cisco IOS, TL1 and Cable Modem Simulation capabilities. MIMIC 7.00 new features include:- IPv6: Full support for IPv6, including recording and simulating IPv6 based devices on Linux and Solaris platforms - SSH: Support for Secure shell for connection to any of the simulated devices SYSLOG support for remote logging - Auto-discovery of INFORM authentication parameters - Telnet Client: access a simulated device via telnet from a Cisco IOS session - Console login: simulated console for Cisco IOS enabled devices - Addition of many Cisco IOS command support to make simulation of Cisco devices closer to the real device - New simulated devices and networks in the library - Additional performance enhancements Gambit is simultaneously releasing version 3.00 of its new product MIMIC Virtual Lab Enterprise. It includes many ready network of devices from different manufacturers, supporting SNMP and Cisco IOS protocols. ABOUT MIMIC MIMIC provides an inexpensive way for enterprises, device vendors, management software developers and outsourcers to evaluate, test, demo, develop, train and certify management applications without purchasing equipment and maintaining labs for those functions. MIMIC has the ability to simulate up to 10,000 devices from one workstation. MIMIC simulations can be distributed over multiple platforms for enterprise simulation testing of even larger environments. MIMIC includes user-friendly wizards for importing new MIBs, recording large networks, creating device simulations and network topologies, and provides full support for SNMP(v1, v2, v3), DHCP, TFTP, RMON(1, 2) as well as Telnet/Cisco IOS.
