Julie is a regular contributor to the Voice Over Experts podcast, providing voice actors and new talent alike candid advice and a unique perspective on the industry.
Julie Williams’ lecture “Information You Need to Know: What 100 Clients Told Me” compiled the results of a brief yet telling survey that sheds some light on what people who need voice overs recorded want from a voice actor and also how they appreciate being approached or contacted. These particular customers hired an equal amount of male and female voice over talents, 42% of which hire voice talent several times a month and 85% of which say that they are always on the lookout for good voice talent.
When answering a question related to what kind of voiceover projects they usually cast, the responses were:
41% said commercials 33% said narrations 16% said elearning 8% said other
Many other topics were covered including startling data that revealed how clients really feel about being approached by voice over talent, where they go to get their voice overs, how often they receive cards, gifts or promotional materials from voice talent and more.
