(Times Square - NY, & Fort Dix - NJ, USA ) April 25, 2008 - Actor, Comic, Author and Entertainer Jamie Kennedy will appear with writer/comic Bill Dawes at Fort Dix, New Jersey on May 7th to entertain the service troops and their families stationed there. Encore performances for the general public will be at Times Square Comedy Club that weekend.
Kennedy, a long time supporter of US troops and their families both here and overseas traveled to Kuwait and Baghdad with his writer and opening act Bill Dawes in June 2007 to perform for troops there. This special appearance for troops and their families here at home, billed as, Funny Biz “Spread the Laughter” was arranged by Kennedy and TMEGs Alycia Lerer with the help and support of the Fort Dix Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (DFMWR) and Times Square Arts Center. This event is sponsored in part by Funny Biz, P.I.N.K., and Comics Care. Due to the high level of base security and civilian space limitations, Kennedy and Dawes will be providing encore performances for civilians and fans on May 8th, 9th & 10th at Times Square Comedy Club. The encore event is sponsored by Times Square Comedy Club, Times Square Arts Center and Richard Basciano who is actively promoting the renaissance of Times Square.
Basciano, owner of Times Square Arts Center is also an avid supporter of troops and their families. He has offered free admission to military personnel with one guest for any show there on weekdays and a 15% discount for special events. Kennedy will also be featured on “Funny Biz TV” which is a kind of “American Idol” for comics scheduled to begin taping later this year. His documentary film “Heckler” will be released on DVD this September.
