New York City resident and father of 3, James Curry, is auctioning advertising space at his funeral and beyond. Mr. Curry is receiving online bids from companies and interested individuals around the world, who would like to advertise on his coffin, in his coffin, at his wake, and more.
"Life is short so I decided to help promote a cause or firm, while generating finances to help pay bills in the here and now."
The winning bidder will have a logo or message on 1) Mr. Curry's metal coffin; 2) A private message to God (or whichever spiritual force they believe in) inside the casket; 3) A small logo or message on Mr. Curry's tombstone; and 4) A musical selection chosen by the winning bidder played at Mr. Curry's wake.
But for the skeptics out there, in 2006, Mr. Curry is holding a "Celebration of Life" to ensure that the winning bidder gets promotion far beyond his funeral time. "With the varied fluctuations in the stock market, this is the gift/investment that keeps on giving. And James is the type of guy that will end up in heaven and put in a good word for the winning bidder." said T. Pratt, a family friend and relative.
For those who think that Mr. Curry's auction may wind him up in Hell, Mr. Curry says: "In the unlikely event that I end up in hell and not heaven, I'll still do my best to keep the devil, and his demonds from attacking the winning bidder, so it's a win-win situation for all involved."
