Press Release:

According to John Gongos, small business can play a vital part in encouraging charitable giving—especially during times of natural disasters like the recent hurricanes and earthquake. Gongos, of marketing research firm, Gongos and Associates, enlists employees, vendors, colleagues, neighbors and friends to host regular blood drives for the Red Cross. This month, the firm will combine a Blood Drive for the Red Cross with a Food Drive to supplement the Salvation Army Disaster Relief Food Supply. The event will be held on October 17th from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m. at its Bloomfield Hills offices on North Adams Road. Donors are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to the event.

“The need for charitable donations is stronger than ever," said Gongos. National and international relief agencies have observed a new “donor fatigue” as contributions to aid disaster victims have slowed due to the rash of natural disasters this year. Locally, officials of the American Red Cross Blood Services of Southeastern Michigan are working to shore up a low blood supply. The Salvation Army has announced concern that it will be unable to provide food for needy families during the upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays

Gongos and Associates began hosting blood drives in 2002. Gongos and Associates typically hosts blood drives at least twice a year and has organized charitable donations for disaster relief in the past. The firm rewards employees who give blood by granting them a half day off of work.
