In light of the many activities and alerts highlighting attention to the happenings in the conflict-torn region of Darfur, the most recent being Mia Farrows hunger strike against the decision of the government to expel aid organisations from the region, author John Halsted had already started his own personal campaign three years ago.

Joining the appeal by actress Mia Farrow, Halsted is donating part of the gains of his book to the cause, offering them to an organisation that has a strong reputation and is actively working to help Darfur refugees.

The sequel of the book is due out next year and will focus on the slave trade of Northern Africa highlighting the ages old plight of the people of Darfur.
