“We are thrilled to see Addition Celebration, a math album be recognized yet again by the Canadian music community,” says producer Susan Jarema. This recent nomination comes less than a year after the first album, “Multiplication Vacation,” won an Indie award during Canadian Music Week in March 2005. “I want children to get the basics down early so they find learning math easy and become confident,” says Jarema. “I have spent years researching ways to make learning fun at home and have found that music is a fast, easy and natural way for children to learn.”

Press Release:

The ‘Indie’ nomination of the children’s music album “Addition Celebration” has created a big celebration of its own among the members of the Googol Power Team. Susan Jarema, producer of the Googol Power Math Series is honored by the nomination. “We are thrilled to see a math album be recognized yet again by the Canadian music community,” says Jarema. “I am so proud of everyone involved in the project.” This recent nomination comes less than a year after the first album, “Multiplication Vacation,” won an Indie award during Canadian Music Week in March 2005.

The Canadian Independent Music Awards is part of the 6th Annual Canadian Music Week (March 1-4, 2006), taking place in Toronto. It is Canada's largest annual entertainment event. Winners are chosen through an online voting poll, open to music fans from January 16th to Feb 12th at www.cmw.net.

The ‘Googols’, seven birds from another galaxy, along with their friends and some of history’s Great Thinkers are equally ecstatic about the nomination. Jarema’s Googol Power Team is made up of 24 puppets and 7 illustrated characters. Behind the scenes is an artistic collaboration of Canadian songwriters, entertainers, vocal talents and even an illustrator - including David Pavane, Yurgen Ilaender (Mr. I), Gary Huntbatch, Jon Hemingway, Krista Pavane, Mick Dalla-Vee, Christine Frandsen, Kerry Lackner, Leslie Hepburn and James Kang. “I was fortunate to gather together an exceptional collective of local talent,” says Jarema.

David Pavane, Googol Power’s Music Director, is even more excited about this year’s nomination. “I am very proud to see our work recognized again, especially because my wife Krista played a major role in writing the lyrics for the new album. We have really enjoyed creating the music together.”

“This album is just plain fun,” says Jarema, whose goal is to make learning exciting. “’Addition Celebration’ is about a surprise birthday for Cozmo, an alien boy who has never experienced an Earth birthday party. The Googols (Echo, Bungie, Screech, Flip, Flop, Crash and Cardio) make this math party magical with surprise visits from Leonardo Da Vinci, Mozart, Cleopatra, Mr. I and Benjamin Franklin.”

For Jarema, the increasing popularity of Googol Power proves that music can be used to inspire math - supporting Jarema’s goal to make math exciting to kids. “I want children to get the basics down early so they find learning math easy and become confident,” says Jarema. “I have spent years researching ways to make learning fun at home and have found that music is a fast, easy and natural way for children to learn.” Jarema performs as a puppeteer for her new school math show “Crazy 4 Math” (along with children’s performer Mr. I and the Mathemaniacs) and conducts workshops and presentations at schools and libraries to promote family learning and to inspire a love for math.
